Each time two Christians walk side by side across the stage, and along their journey, while talking, they pass either side a poor person in the middle of stage, wearing old clothes, and no jacket, looking obviously cold. The Christians each time say “excuse me” as they bypass the poor person, showing they noticed the poor, but did nothing.
C1: …and do you know who it was? The Jacksons! On sabbath!!!! And I thought they truly loved our Lord!
[stop up close and look at poor person, say “excuse me”, and pass either side]
C2: Oh wow, they were doing that on Sabbath? How terrible. I was so sure they were a chance to get to Heaven. It’s so hard to judge people.
[Tabitha comes in and stops at poor person.]
Tabitha: Hello, wow you look cold. Have you got a jacket?
Poor: No, I had to flee my home. I have nothing
Tabitha: Oh, I’m so sorry. I’ll be right back.
C3: …Are you coming to Bible study tonight? We’re delving into a study of the unclean meats of Leviticus.
[stop up close and look at poor person, say “excuse me”, and pass either side]
C4: Oh, that topic again? I have to finish a sermon for this week’s church service. I wish I could come. I do love that Bible study with a passion.
[Tabitha comes back]
Tabitha: Here’s a jacket for you.
Poor: Oh thank you, but I have nothing to give you for it.
Tabitha: No, no. It’s a gift. I made it for anyone who needs it. And here’s a little something to help you get by [drops coins in their hand]
Poor: Thank you… [Tabitha leaves] Oh, what is your name?
Tabitha: [coughs twice times, then draws breath] Tabitha
Poor: God bless you, Tabitha.
C5: …and did you notice they only mentioned the mark of the beast 3 times in this week’s sermon!
[stop up close and look at poor person, say “excuse me”, and pass either side]
C6: I did, Shocking. Our church has lost its purpose, I tell you. Lost its purpose.
Narrator: Acts 9:36: A woman who was a follower lived in the city of Joppa. Her name was Tabitha, or Dorcas. She did many good things and many acts of kindness.
